Age// Five years
Location (may not be accurate)// Near the Western Pond
General: Two unfortunate strangers trapped in a situation that few others have been faced with, there is not just one being to describe here.
Personality// The first and most active of the two beings, Animus was once a slightly pessimistic wolf dwelling in western Kouhai. After the encounter, he went from pessimistic to downright cynical. He is in control the majority of the time, most likely due to his stronger soul and more aggressive nature. He’s willing to push people out of the way to get what he wants, but has never consciously taken the life of another wolf.
Voyant is the second of the two. Voyant is almost completely the opposite of his counterpart. He is soft and gentle, reluctant to dishonor, mock, or harm anyone. This gentle nature allows Animus to seize control of their dual form most of the time. But, in times when killing or thoughtful decisiveness is required, he is quick to take control.
History// Animus once lived as the beta in a pack of fifteen. After a season of drought and plagues decimated their numbers down to three, they shifted around their former pack’s territory in hopes of finding a new pack or a steadier supply of food. Unfortunately, his two companions did not last through the winter.
In the spring he wandered, starving and alone, through foreign territories, managing to avoid packs that might have killed him or accepted him. Either way, he met another wolf who proclaimed himself as Voyant.
Voyant was once a gentle giant, a monstrous wolf who never wished to harm anyone. He lived in his small group containing his two daughters, his eldest son, and two other females they had wandered upon. They were a nomadic pack, moving between territories to scrounge what food they could find and hunt. When a late winter blizzard hopelessly separated them in the winter, Voyant knew that he was most likely to survive. By the time spring had come, he had wandered so far that there was no way he could ever find his way back. And then, he came upon a similarly situated wolf who was even worse off then he was. Starving, alone, and just as hopelessly lost. And he figured that this wolf, this Animus, was his best bet for survival.
Unfortunately, that is as happy as their story would get. They wandered across a land that was a prophet’s land, silently cursed. A land of rich, black soil where nothing grew, really. The instant they stepped away from the path of dirt, talking of their travels, they were knocked unconscious or killed or something. The next thing that either of them knew, both of them were waking up in a single body that neither of them knew.
The first reaction was, obviously, panic. Both of them trying to run away and getting nowhere. After reasoning out the possibilities, they concluded that both of them were trapped in a body of one that had come there before them. And then came the battle of control.
Both wolves attempted to seize control, and their battle ranged across many days and many miles. They fought inwardly until their physical form was exhausted, and then they struck a deal.
Voyant spent several hours hunting small game, and as they ate they discussed what situation they were in. Obviously, the hope of either of them returning to their former families or lives was demolished. They decided that, among everything that they had been through and would no doubt go through in the future, a truce was necessary. An uneasy truce, no doubt, but one with good times as well. And this truce would last for quite awhile. They decided to take up a new name, a name they found carved in the bark of a white oak. Presul.
Albeit, on occasion one of them had broken the ‘rules’ and another fight would inevitably break out. But these times were few.
And over time, Voyant would grow more withdrawn and Animus more hostile. But for the details of their lives, it would be easier to explain by meeting them.
Physical: Despite there being two souls, Presul’s body is one.
Eyes// His eyes are a light gray, with veins easily visible. The whites of his eyes are tinted with red, almost as if he hadn’t slept in some time.
Coat// His fur is unusually long, coal black with smears and blotches of gray across his fur. It made him look young instead of old, unusually, in a way that’s hard to describe.
Size and Build// An average-sized wolf, Presul is just slightly smaller and sleeker then most.
Markings// They have no markings from before their incident, obviously, and not nearly enough to be a fully experienced four-year-old wolf. He does, however, have a neat, round scar, dead center between his shoulderblades.
Family: Obviously, they have long since broken off any and all ties with their families.
Parents// Animus was born in a regular pack, from the beta pair, whose names he can no longer remember. Voyant never knew his parents, yet surprisingly grew up with a better attitude then most.
Siblings// Neither of them had siblings, which ended up being for the best.
Children// Animus never bred, nor sired any children, to the great disappointment of his parents. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Voyant was never expected to breed, but sired seven children in two litters; a male and two females, and then two males and two females. His eldest son and youngest two daughters lived with him until the catastrophic blizzard that ruined his life.
Mate// Voyant had a mate that is now dead.
Crush// The unspoken agreement among the two of them is to not bring another wolf into their twisted lives until a later specified time that may never come.
Extra// More information on their 'condition' is sketchy at best, even to them. Only one of them can be in control of the body at once, while the other is locked away in the corner of their mind.
The one in control feels every burden of exhaustion, pain, hunger, and other such physical symptoms.
As for communication, the one in control can only speak out loud. The other, likewise, can only speak in a mind-to-mind, private telepathy.
The mind, however, is a different story. Sharing a single body, obviously they've gotten to know each other and their pasts. But still, there is a wall between them. Voyant cannot read Animus' mind, nor can Animus read Voyant's. They can often sense each others emotions, or their strongest ideas, but neither of them is quite ready to share their life story.
