Terms
These are words or roleplay terms you may see on the forum that not everybody is familliar with. If you have more that can be added, feel free to add them in a reply and we will put them on the list.
Sire: noun; Birth father. (verb: "sired" or "to sire")
Dam: noun; Birth mother.
Tag: This goes at the title of a roleplaying thread, and precedes a list of characters, packs, groups, etc who are allowed to partake in that thread. When it says "open", all are welcome to join.
OOC:// An abberviation for "out of character", used when you want to say something personally instead of part of the roleplay while you're in the roleplaying thread.
BIC:// An abberviation for "back in character", used with above.
Gullet: Refers to the digestive parts of the body, like the stomach, intestines, and throat.
Maw: The parts of the mouth.
Pads: The things on the bottom of a wolf's paws. (verb: padded or padding; meaning walking).
Cache:A hiding place used for storing food if there is an abundance of meat from a kill.
Disperser: A wolf that leaves the pack and strikes out on its own
Hybrid: An animal that is half wolf, half dog (domestic dogs). In some cases wild dogs (coyotes, foxes, African wild dog, etc).
Domestic Dog: A dog who is owned and trained
Ranks
*Some are Latin words
Alpha: Head of the pack, the boss, the one that everyone follows.
Beta: Second in command, they follow orders but also give out orders.
Kappa: Elder; Usually are old wolves who been with the pack for many years.
Quero: Scout; One who gather's information and recruits members
Armo: Hunter; Hunter is a normal pack member.
Mere: Guardian; a mother of young pups, usually stay home from the hunts to watch the young ones.
Discipulus: Trainee; is a pup learning the ways of being an adult.
Novus: Pup; is also a newborn, they just hang around the dens.
levis: Omega; are loners who just joined, this rank can be easily changed once the pack decides it's time to call them an Armo.
Wolf Info
Types of Wolves:
- Canis lupus baileyi - the Mexican wolf or lobo.
- Canis lupus nubilus - the Great Plains or buffalo wolf.
- Canis lupus occidentalis - the , Rocky Mountain or MacKenzie Valley wolf.
- Canis lupus lycaon - the eastern timber wolf. Some scientists maintain this wolf is a separate species, Canis lycaon.
- Canis lupus arctos- the arctic wolf.
