Ground Zero Directed at Lythium Time: Early morning, with the sun almost peeking over the mountains. The horizon is rapidly lightening from deep, starless blue to a cloudy purple. This takes place shortly after the Land Divison.Weather: It stopped raining abou thalf an hour ago, but the ground is still wet with a mixture of dew and rain.Location: The eastern edge of the lake, halfway between the treeline and the slight slope to the water's edge.He loved this time of day. The trees sparkled with moisture, dripping rainwater onto the underbrush below it. The droplets fell silently, rolling like a bead of blood down a sword's shaft. Soon the sun would rise, and each wet leaf would absorb the heat instead of the water. Eventually the grass and the leaves would all dry out, if another rain didn't come along - which, judging by the recent weather and the clouds overhead, he guessed that it would.
When he had a pack, he would be far too busy to experience the rising of the sun every day, and if he did it wouldn't be with the pure, unworried bliss that he felt. At the moment, he had no pack. He had lands, and a claim to them. He had no one else to look after, just himself. He knew that would change very soon. He knew, deep in his heart. It was what had kept him going for a full day and a half without sleep. Well, that and that there was too much work to be done.
Indeed, he'd met up with the other alphas, went straight back to his territory, briefly scented his borders, and made a beeline for the lake. It was the best place to start fresh. It had a source of freshwater, a forest filled with prey parallel to it, and a bit of a hill from the woods to the water. This was important to him, experience told. In the mountains, they'd never slept in dens. But on his early lone journeys, one spring eve, he'd woken up in a small den he'd dug at ground level to find it filling up with water. He'd nearly drowned before escaping the self-dug grave. He recalled this as he'd begun his work. And now, as the sun peeked over the pre-dawn sky, he felt satisfaction. A few freshly excavated dens were dug into the slope, all physical proof suggesting that there might've been a pack there. The earthen edges were sharp and unsmoothed, and they smelled of dirt and mud instead of warmth and wolf. But they were there, and he'd made them. It was impossible not to feel proud.
Carger shook his head, looking across the lake. Behind him, he knew, the trees were smack against the circular mountain range. They formed a crescent moon shape, from ten feet away from the mountain range all the way to miles inland. Inside the crescent shape, where he was now, was the lake. The trees formed around the lake again, almost completely enclosing it, but at the far end of the lake he could glimpse the plains. He took a breath and sent his mourning call over the trees, echoing for several miles. He doubted any wolf would come so early, but there was always the chance.
He smiled lightly, looking at the land around him. Here it was; Ground Zero. He'd started here. He was still here. And god d**nit, he'd fight to stay here.

She smelled the fresh air, it was a new place and she hadn't been here long, "Stupid humans." she thought as she flashed her bright green eyes to gaze at her surroundings, it had been hours since a meal, water, and shelter. Her midnight black pelt glistened with the fresh fallen rain which had stopped for the time being. She listened to a distant howl that somehow didn't feel all that far away. Her broad chest made her appearance seem male like. As she listened the breeze jingled her steel chain that laid across her chest. When the mournful sounding howl had ended she walked closer towards the location it came from. Before her a path, surrounded by dense forest which led into a lake, yet in the far distance or really what she could make out that far looked like another wolf. She stalked closer to the figure and thought to herself "Could this be the Alpha? Could I be home finally after searching for another home?" Throughout all of her trials she became strong, with a broad chest forward and bright, glowing green eyes she walked closer, then came to a stop at the other side of the lake. She dipped her head low and spoke in a raspy tone, "Hello." and then she waited.

Carger's ears drooped after he got no response, but he continued to watch the skies. He had so much to do, but little muse and energy to do it. He yawned, closing his eys for a moment, and simply listened to to world around him. Kouhai hadn't had to deal with wolves for generations, the creatures here weren't used to them. Two deer were on the other side of the lake, in plain sight. Several dozen yards away, a rabbit had dug a scratch literally right next to the den he'd made. How could a place like this go undiscovered? Magic? It was the only explanation he could think of. "Hello," he heard from behind him. He turned before he could think, looking at a large-ish female that he didn't recognize. "Hello," he said calmly, the jackhammer beating of his heart pefectly concealed. He almost repeated the word, skipped a beat, and then nodded curtly. "I am Carger, newfound ruler of these lands."

"Hello Carger, I am Lythium." she rasped once more as she bowed before him. Although she was scary looking, Lythium was never one to lose her manners. Her eyes gazed over the founder of the land, a happy thump in her chest began, it made her chest so tight she thought it would burst if she moved any further, she took a deep breath and began to speak with a cool, mysterious complexion and tone, "Carger I am looking for a home, the humans left me here to die, and I found my way here, it is in the forest I was born and raised and it will be in the forest where I will lay down my life. Tell me, are you looking for someone or is that just a curious look on your face to see a female like me?" She smirked and sighed a heavy breath and watched the rabbit and other wildlife scurry around them. Some how this felt right to Lythium, but she just couldn't gather the right thought in her mind. But something good was going to come of this meeting, something.

Carger nodded. "I have come upon humans and their victims before. Of course you are welcome here, for however long you wish to stay." He paused a moment, looking beyond her at the lands around them. "I must say, though, these lands are only just claimed, and the natures of them are not known completely, even by me. If you're up to the task, you'd be the only member until another were to wander onto these lands." He watched her carefully. "As long as you're alright with that, I have no problems with you joining me."

With a devilish eye she looked at him, "You ask me if I'm alright with it, I live for this." She swished her tail low to the ground, green vines pulsing at her feet. "There's more to me then you think there is my dear Carger. Much more." Her eyes fixated to him as she spoke, watching his every move and following every twitch. Lythium felt at ease in the presence of Carger, such a noble male with brute like characteristics. "Well since your pack is open, you may consider me any rank you choose, after all you are the Alpha." She spoke to him as she leaned forward to take a drink.

Carger smiled. 'If half our members are as spirited, our pack will take off,' he thought quickly, before turning his attention to her next words. "Every wolf has their secrets, and their dreams. this pack will be one in which all of them will be accepted without judgement." He paused for a second, looking across the lake again. He'd already been thinking ahead to ranks. The first thing he would need in his pack were hunters - or huntresses - to keep a good amount of food coming. The first winter of a pack was always the hardest, with fewer members and little food stockpiled. "Right now, hunting is most crucial for the packs flourishing. Once we have enough members, I may reassign you or you may request for me to reassign you."
He looked back at her, remembering the weary way she'd first approached. "You must be tired from your travels. If you wish, you can stay here and rest. Several dens are dug over there." He nodded to the somewhat concealed scratches in the ground. "You may take up one of them, should you choose so."

"I shall fight for this pack, I will serve beside you and help this pack flourish. Thank you for letting me take up for the night here." Lythium said as she flashed her green eyes at Carger. "You won't regret me being here." she said swishing her tail in a subtle, happy manner. "Sir Carger, come what may I will fight and lay down my life for the Ileai." she finished as she bowed to her new Alpha. Lythium felt full inside, she was complete, she had found what she had been looking for. A home, a new family, and possibly a new friend.

When the sun began to rise, Mawla awoke. That was just how it happened.
Her eyes opened and she was suddenly alert to her surrounding. She was in a new land now, and some things here weren't how her old home was. "Mom was right, I'm never going to find this place." She muttered, lifting her body from the ground and standing up. Her hip cracked and she yawned audibly before shaking off the dirt and morning dew from her coat.
After walking for nearly a mile her nose began to pick up the scents around her. She could smell many new things, but the strongest was, in fact, the smell of other wolves. Immediately she began to run towards them, dodging trees and rocks easily.
Her nerves started To catch up to her. What if they denied her? What if they didn't want her any where near the land? Should she howl? Should she do something? She stopped next to a stream and laid down, staring into her reflection. She frowned at the rain drop shape on her forehead and sighed. She kind of missed her mom. "Hey mom, it's just me," she said aloud, "I'm doing fine. I just entered Cager's land. I don't know if I want to tell him who's daughter I am, but I'm sure he'll be able to tell by this cursed mark on my forehead." She smiled, stood back up, and took a drink. It almost stung.
"Oh my goodness.." She whispered, her eyes widening, as she looked across a lake. The rising sun made it look beautiful, and the rain drop on her forehead was now dull, and no longer glowing. She could see two wolves on the other side of the lake and her heart skipped a beat. She would have to go over there. She hung her head low as she nervously trotted along, looking at Cager specifically. That was definitely him. She stopped and watched them talk for a few moments before she actually approached, her head still low.
"Excuse me, but I'm looking for Cager, the Alpha of this land. Would you happen to be, or, know him?" She looked between the two and slowly rose her head, her face and eyes full of worry. She lowered them and stared down at her black paws, noticing a small blade of glass. She ignored it. "If I'm bothering you, I mean, I could just leave..."

Lythium turned her head to look at the newcomer sharply, when it came to new wolves she became very uneasy. She lowered her head as she kept her green eyes on the new one, with an arcane tone she spoke up to the newcomer, "I am not the Alpha, that would be him. I however, am a huntress." she said with a smirk. "But as my leader has said, I will not judge. So I guess you're welcome here."
"I am Lythium by the way." she added and then backed off of her soapbox to let the Alpha have a few words. She kept her eye on the new wolf, just as she did with Carger when they first met, every move the new one made she watched, green ivy leaves started to grow up her front paws, but she calmly made them draw back before the new one would see.

He would've responded graciously to Lythium's words, but for the entrance of this other stranger. Carger considered them both strangergs, for even though he knew Lythium's name, he knew nothing about her. But she was his pack member, after all, and so he knew that he would learn more and more about them as time passed. Even so, Carger was warily uncomfortable with both this new wolf's entrance, Lythium's tone, and that she seemed to answer for him. Her words, too, seemed to be almost...enchanting. Like they meant something, but your mind just seemed to slide away from them. Nonetheless, he quickly stood to look at Mawla more properly. And almost instantly a memory clicked in her mind. "Yes, indeed, I am Carger and you are more then welcome here," he said easily, with a gleam in his eye. "But, pray tell, you wouldn't happen to be the daughter of lady Ringa? Of Raindriven?" He remembered the striking appearance of a female he'd met not too long ago, but mostly of the curved mark on her forehead. In fact, it reminded him a bit of the shape of the lake. He peeled his memory for other wolves he'd met, but it was strange to say that he could not. In fact, he scarcely remembered anything about his life outside of Kouhai. He remembered his family and his pack, but all the wolves he'd met on his travels before then seemed...vague. Distant. He shook the thought off and returned to his conversation, smiling lightly.

Mawla smiled lightly as Lithium spoke, her head rising slowly, with a little more confidence. It seemed as if she might actually be wanted here, or, no one would really care. Either way, it worked for her. She'd have somewhere to stay, and others to look out for. When she mentioned the Alpha was indeed standing in front of her, she got a little nervous. She shifted her eyes towards him, and then her head, putting her tail between her legs. He was so inferior to her, just being so high in rank. In stature, too. He was bigger than her, and most definitely stronger. She lowered her head to him and smiled. She could tell, just by looking at him, he would not be a rude character.
"Thank you, Lord Carger, it means a lot to me, and to just take me under your wing is all I could ever ask for. I've grown very weary in my travels, and my hunger is great." She rose her head to it's normal height and her tail began to move slightly, her smile growing. "Yes, that is me." She let out a little chuckle and sat down, "She's the reason I'm here, you know."
She turned her head and looked back to Lythium, "Lythium, it is so very nice to meet you. You're name is so beautiful. It reminds me of the sun, for some reason. And just the sound of it has a nice ring." She then looked at each of them individually, "My name is Mawla, and I am here to protect each and every one of you."

Lythium turned in a circle, and then sat herself down right beside Carger, and right in front of Mawla. "Thank you for the compliment." Lythium said as she thought to herself; "The sun. hmph." She wasn't very fond of the sun. She was a demon, a ghost. Night time gave her a thrill, and the moon gave her energy. As she sat down her chain jingled a haunting tune, yet the wind was never there to move it. There was something eerie about Lythium, but it was so strange that it was intoxicating.
"Please forgive me Sire, for speaking for you. I just wanted to be sure if she was here for the right reasons, its my job to protect you Sire." She spoke in an easy tone hoping the Alpha would be forgiving. Turning her head to the forest covered sky, she smelled the air, she was hoping for rain, she needed to refresh, recharge herself, her unknown powers were being drained from the early bomb of fear that had exploded when she seen Mawla. "Soon." she thought to herself "Soon they will have to know." She closed her eyes and brought her head down and let out a breath of relief.

Carger smiled, nodding his head. "Your mother is a fine wolf, Mawla," he said shortly, before looking from Lythium to Mawla. "It is alright, Lythium. I would've done the same thing in your place. We all understand," he said, choosing his words carefully but in a smiling voice, "that loyalty is something to be earned." Regardless, his pack had numbered two, and pride simply filled him. "Our pack's named Ileai, and its meaning I do not know. But regardless of the name, for it is simply a word, we will stamp our title on this land like none has before." He closed his eyes, and turned towards the lake as if looking out upon it. "This land has never seen war, not in a long time at least. There are two other packs across the lands, and our borders encompass the mountains and this lake." His eyes opened, and he turned to look at them with a serious expression. "Crossing into the mountains or onto the plains is trespassing, and my protection or support does not exist in either. All other land is neutral. I would advise spending less time in there as time progresses. Rogues can be...dangerous." He smiled again, the troubled expression lifting off of his face. "You may both get rest, here, for the hours following. It is a great journey into these lands, and I know for I have made it more then once."
He said nothing about their capabilities or powers, though his mind was already surging forwards to plan. As he'd thought a million times within the past twenty four hours, a wolf cannot know themselves until they know what they can do.

"Well thank you. She's a very good mother as well." Mawla smiled back and stood up, stretching her legs and yawning. "Ileai is a wonderful name. Whatever it means I'm sure it's as beautiful as the land. As for wandering off too far, you won't have to worry about that with me. I like to stay close to my home so I know what's going on." She turned away and walked a few steps over to the lake and lowered her head. The water wasn't it's cleanest because of the rainfall, but it wasn't so dirty it needed to be cleaned. The next rainfall, she'd get right to that. She drank from the lake, and in her head, began to debate how clean the water truly was. It hadn't been touched for years, so there was some bacteria stirring around, but nothing to worry about. It was clean. She smiled to herself and turned back around, tilting her head to the side.
"There wouldn't happen to be any other bodies of water, big or small, in your turf, would there?" The water would be checked out, maybe not at this moment, but definitely later. The pack would not become sick from something that, with her power, is easily preventable. That would not 'roll' with the protector. She sat silently and licked the water off of her nose, some still dropping off of her chin.
