As you drift into the gauzy realm of dreams,
May you take comfort in the thought that you are safe
For it only takes a fraction of a second
For all of this to change
Return to me
When slumber's fog has lifted
Return to me
Stronger than before
Time: Night, the sun has just dipped over the horizon, a flare of orange, yellow, red and violet is dancing through the clouds, the northern lights are about to shimmer through the sky.
Weather: 45°F, the cloud cover is mostly broken. A soft rain seems to be coating the area in a haze of drizzle.
Location: On the very edge of the cliffs overlooking the valley, a small path leads to where he is resting which is a semi circular precipice. In the hole of the mountain is a small hollowed hole in the stone, large enough to seek shelter if necessary.
Zephyr was not sure why he was seeking solitude here overlooking a valley so far from where he was. He was scanning the world, pondering things too deep for his own good. A small pool of melt water was on one of the lower stones, about two feet beneath his perch. Looking into the cool still water he tilted his head at his reflection. He raised his lips as he stared into the water revealing the two black canines. He stared at this image for a long time before letting his lips drop back down. He felt old most days, old and tired even though he had no reason, he was five and would live to be much much older, but still, it felt that every passing minute was an hour, but there was some comfort in knowing he had a home here.
He thought of Tamyran and the pack he still had not seen but had smelt on the wind, in time he would reveal himself. The dark angel, fallen angel, wingless. He took a deep breath and watched as bits of his fur and two small feathers drifted off from his back and flutter silently through the wind to a place he didn't know.
A small white dove landed near his perch and he looked over at it for a moment. "Come to bring me good news?" he spoke softly, "Or perhaps you have found land from across the sea." He gave a small smile and rested his head on the out cropping his face solemn and content in the night air, watching the beauty of the sky unfold in all of its splendor.
Yet even in his rest he kept his ears alert to the sounds of the world around him...
