Name of Thread Time: MiddayWeather: As the sun reaches its peak, the temperature is approaching unbearable at 120 degrees. The Heat Wave has begun and not a single forgiving cloud is in sight.Location: At the base of one of the hills a small den has been burrowed, its entrance facing east. Adahi'i sits just inside the opening to her home. The shadows are shortening, and the usually cool earth is burning due to the rays penetrating the den since sun rise. Adahi'i's tongue lagged our as she tried her hardest to maintain a cool body temperature. her usually think pelt had shed the final remains of her winter coat at long last, but it still wasn't enough. The heat was getting to best of her. Nevar had yet to call a hunt, and the female was getting lean, she was in desparate need of nourishment, but hadn't the energy to do anything.

Nevar's body soon appeared insight, the heat raising from the cracks in the ground creating an image of water. There were no clouds in sight, and there was no water to drink from. He looks at each den that he passes, most were empty. His ears twitching as flies began to irritate them. His spine arched as each lift of the leg lagged a stepped. His winter coat was fully gone, as you could almost see his rips. Muscle replacing over his rather thin body. Once eyes blinking as the bugs began to bug his eye sight. He looks around, soon to notice a little movement in one of the dens. Realizing it quickly that it was Adahi'i's den. He marches on over, his mind wasn't really over Mawla, its been a week since Mawla passed away. His mood was always different, but it was always his own. The wind always traveled with him, it was either warm or it was cool. Either or it didn't help much during this heat wave. Finally reaching Adahi'I he took a hault and stood there, looking into her den. He knew not to get to close, his body warmth would just make it like an oven. "Hello Adahi'i, I think I have bad news. The river is drying up quick, by the end of the day I think it might be gone. " He says with a rather dry voice. Licking his lips, opening that it would help.

It took a fair bit of effort for Adahi'i to lift up her head to take a glance at Nevar. She was still fighting her emotions as fervently as she had been the day that Mawla died. Certain that he had much greater worries at the moment, particularly about hte weather, she brushed her thoughts off yet again. "I thought it might, but didn't want to consider the possibility. What will we do, Nevar? The pack can't stay here much longer, especially without water." She returned her head to rest upon her paws. The energy was draining from her quickly, though she made no mention of her health to her alpha, not wishing to concern him with trivial matters, critically underestimating her dehydration. "This kind of heat can't possibly keep up too long, can it? Autumn should be here soon..."

Squall slunk his body along the grass, it was hot and apparently the river was starting to disappear. His pink tongue escaping his mouth, dry as a bone, he looked around and saw no sign of plant life."Greetings Adahi'i." he spoke to her softly, and bowed then turned to his Alpha "Lord Nevar, the plains, they're turning into dust, the buffalo have started to move."

Nevar nods to Adahi'i as he wasn't sure what could happen. He had experience a heat wave once in his life, and it was luck that he survived it. The wind blew slightly, as he tried to keep them all cool, at times it was worst because all the wind brought was more heat to them. But I suppose at times it was better then having it be dry heat, with no breeze at all. Nevar's head slowly moved as he looked at Squall, he once again nodded to him pretty much a sign that he knew. "Yes, They will be heading towards water. They will be dropping like flies, so we will eat the fallen and later we will have to watch what we eat, for they need to re-grow in population size. The fish are already gone, and the rabbits will rot before we take notice. Hunting will be a big part, for survival. If you find food, try to signal all of us and hopefully we will all get our share without problems." He says, as he begins to pant, his throat drying each word he spoke.

Adahi'i nodded to her alpha, taking special note of his instructions for hunting. " If the river is almost gone...I need to get down there. Perhaps I can hydrate myself for at least a little longer." With considerable effort, the femme crawled slowly out of her den. As she left the shady haven, the sun hit her weak body like a ton of bricks. "Sir, I will alert you and the pack if I come upon any buffalo that have passed." She urged her body into a slow trot, intent on making it to water before her thirst overcame her.[/size]
